Leo Tanaka builds tiny bridges. Some are made of wood. Some are made of paper. One was made of dry noodles, but Leo calls that "a lesson, not a bridge."

He started building them as a child. His first bridge crossed a puddle in his grandmother's garden. It was only twenty centimeters long, but three toy cars used it with dignity.

Now Leo teaches weekend workshops. Children bring small problems: a gap between two desks, a river in a board game, or a snack plate that feels too far away.

Leo says tiny bridges are useful because they make people look carefully. "A small bridge still needs balance," he explains.

His dream is to build a bridge for a pencil that always rolls off the table. The pencil has not agreed to an interview.
