Yesterday I walked home without earphones. I did not plan it. I simply forgot to charge them.

At first, the street felt too quiet. Then I began to hear small sounds: a bicycle bell, shoes on the road, a train far away, and someone closing a shop shutter.

I usually listen to music because it makes the walk feel shorter. Without music, the walk felt slower, but not boring.

I noticed a bakery smell near the corner. I noticed that the sky changed color behind the power lines. I also noticed that my own bag makes a strange sound when I walk fast.

When I got home, I still charged my earphones. I like music. But once a week, I may leave them in my bag and let the town speak first.
