Students at Aoba Junior High School held a notebook trade fair on Friday. The idea was simple. Students brought clean old notebooks and exchanged them for other school supplies.

The fair started after one student found ten unused notebooks at home. “I did not need ten,” she said. “My desk looked like a small paper shop.”

At the fair, students could trade notebooks, pencils, rulers, and folders. Broken items were not accepted. Items with secret love letters were also checked carefully.

A teacher said the event helped students reduce waste. It also helped them clean their rooms, which several parents quietly celebrated.

The most popular item was a notebook with only three used pages. One student called it “almost new, but with experience.”
