Notice: The Elevator Will Practice Small Talk
A notice explains how to respond when the elevator tries polite conversation.
Notice to all users: Starting Monday, the west elevator will practice basic small talk.
This update is part of our building's friendliness project. When you enter the elevator, it may ask simple questions such as, "Busy day?" or "Nice weather, isn't it?"
Please answer briefly. Recommended replies include "Yes, a little," "It is," and "Third floor, please." Long stories may delay other users.
If the elevator says, "You look tired," do not take it personally. The elevator is still learning polite tone.
Please do not ask the elevator for life advice, lunch recommendations, or exam predictions. It only knows floor numbers and weak conversation starters.
If you prefer silence, use the stairs. The stairs are not friendly, but they are honest.
Thank you for helping the elevator become more socially comfortable.
