Recipe for Pancakes That Refuse to Be Round
A playful recipe explains how to serve pancakes with very strong opinions about shape.
Recipe: Pancakes That Refuse to Be Round
Time: About fifteen minutes, unless the pancakes begin a shape argument.
Ingredients: one cup of flour, one egg, one cup of milk, one spoon of sugar, a little butter, and patience.
Step 1: Mix the flour, egg, milk, and sugar in a bowl. Do not ask the batter what shape it wants to be.
Step 2: Heat a pan and add butter. Pour a small circle of batter into the pan.
Step 3: If the pancake becomes a star, a triangle, or a map of Australia, stay calm. This is normal for emotional batter.
Step 4: Turn the pancake over when bubbles appear. If it looks proud, give it ten more seconds.
Serving idea: Put the strange pancakes on a plate. Add syrup and fruit. Tell your family they are modern art.
Important note: Do not promise round pancakes. Promise breakfast.
