The Library Chair Negotiation
Two students try to solve a library problem by speaking politely to a chair.
In the quiet corner of the library, one chair made a loud squeak every time someone sat down.
Aya: We need to talk to the chair.
Ren: I thought we were trying to study, not hold a meeting with furniture.
Aya: Good furniture deserves clear communication.
Ren: Fine. Chair, please reduce your volume during reading time.
Aya: That was too direct. Add appreciation.
Ren: Thank you for supporting students. Please stop announcing it.
Aya: Better.
Ren: It still squeaked.
Aya: Maybe it wants a specific proposal.
Ren: We can offer one cushion and no sudden sitting.
Aya: Excellent. That is a fair compromise.
Ren: I cannot believe this is working.
The chair became quiet after Aya added a folded sweater. Ren wrote "negotiation skills" in his notebook.
