Supermarket Carts Demand Better Parking
A supermarket faces a quiet protest from carts that want a better return area.
A supermarket in Nishi Town had a strange problem on Monday morning.
All of its shopping carts moved into one long line in front of the entrance. The carts did not block customers, but they refused to enter the return area.
Store workers first thought it was a prank. However, the carts stayed in perfect order for two hours.
The manager said the return area was too small and often crowded.
“Maybe the carts are tired of being pushed together,” he said. “I understand the feeling.”
Customers enjoyed the scene. One woman said the carts looked more organized than most meetings at her office.
The supermarket has now added a wider cart space and a small roof to protect the carts from rain.
After the change, the carts returned to normal. One worker said they moved more smoothly than before.
The manager denied giving the carts a leader, but one cart near the entrance is now called Captain by local children.
